Talking Tom Cat 2 is the free, ad-supported follow-up to the popular app Talking Tom, featuring an animated cat that repeats everything you say in a funny voice.
Although Talking Tom Cat 2 has little repeat play value for grownups, the app is predictably a hit with the most kiddos--and its animation and graphics are above average for an app like this (especially in the iPad version). In addition to repeating what you say, Tom has several reactions you can trigger, like purring when you stroke him or hissing and clawing when you poke him. You can also record a video of Tom, which you can then save or share via e-mail, Facebook, or YouTube. A few more elaborate animations involve Tom's "neighbor" Ben, a dog who enjoys harassing Tom (such as Ben scaring Tom by popping a paper bag, causing Tom to leap up to a chandelier).
Overall, this is a fun, lightweight app, but parents should be aware of a few things: it's slightly violent (you can slap and poke Tom to the point that he falls down unconscious), one animation involves Harold noisily passing gas (sure, you can't avoid fart jokes with kids, but maybe you don't want to encourage them), and a few of the buttons trigger requests for in-app purchases, to unlock more abilities.

How to Play With This App:
Talk to Tom and he will repeat everything you say with a funny voice.
Pet him to make him purr.
Poke his head, belly or feet.
Grab his tail.
Apart from that you can record videos of the session you passed talking and playing with Tom and upload them to YouTube then post them on Facebook or send them by email. Talking Tom Cat app is compatible with Apple’s iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPad and ipod as well. iPod Touch users must have a microphone otherwise you will not be able to listen Tom.

Amazon has launched an iPhone app specifically designed for students. The timing of this launch couldn’t be better; it is that time of year where students are beginning to get back in session.
The app allows students to quickly look up prices on textbooks, video games, movies and other gadgets that tend to appeal to college students. You can look up an item either by searching for it, or by using the built-in barcode scanner. Users can quickly find out how much the book store is overcharging, and order the book for a more reasonable price right from their phone. The app also allows users to save things they would like to buy later on their Amazon wishlist.
Where the app really shines is with the full integration of Amazon’s trade-in feature. This allows students to quickly sell items back to Amazon for store credit to be used on later purchases. Students also get a free 6 month trial of Amazon Prime.
Users can trade in textbooks, video games, and all sorts of other electronics. Sometimes listing the item yourself and waiting for it to sell can be a real hassle, and being able to quickly unload a book with Amazon is a real convenience, especially when you can do it right from the phone. All items traded in with Amazon will get prepaid shipping, so you don’t even have to pay to ship it back.
